Speed Dial with Emma Heming Willis

Nat: I checked out your blog and love it.

Emma: I can say the same about yours. I love your website. It’s so aesthetically pleasing and there’s so many things to uncover and explore which I really, really like. And I’m in awe at how much you post!

Nat: Well, I don’t have two children! I can only imagine what two is like!

Emma: It’s super challenging. One, I thought, was really challenging. Two is beyond my comprehension still. Evelyn is 8 months so it’s not like this just happened. I’m eight months in and it’s still boggles my mind how to manage and juggle it.

Nat: How old is Mabel now?

Emma: She’s two and a half. She’ll be three in April. She’s in her twos and it’s crazy and Evelyn is a baby that’s teething.

Nat: How is Mabel with her little sister?

Emma: She’s actually great. She’s super loving and caring. But she has her moments of jealousy. If I’m holding Evelyn, it doesn’t matter where we are, she’ll say, “Mama, put Evelyn down.” And I’ll say, “Where am I going to put her? Right here on this concrete floor, that’s where you want me to put the child?” It comes in waves. Sometimes it’s all good and other times, she can’t even look at her dad or I. She’s just thinking, “What have you two done?”

Nat: Is she also going through terrible two’s?

Emma: The terrible two’s happened way before she was two.

Nat: I can relate! Mine’s almost two and it’s already starting.

Emma: Maybe she’ll bypass it?

Nat: I appreciate the optimism but I think we’re headed right for it! She’s so stubborn, opinionated and independent but I can’t blame anyone but myself. She inherited those traits honestly.

Emma: Yeah, Mabel’s so stubborn, so hard-headed. She’s super challenging now but I kind of feel like later on in life it will serve her very well.

Nat: Tell me about the blog! How long have you been blogging?

Emma: A month and a half.

Nat: That’s when I launched my site. We’re newbies together!

Emma: Yeah, it’s super new. I’m not a writer and I haven’t been able to journal but I feel like if I can tap into what’s been happening every week, it will turn into my own diary and I can look back and laugh like, “Oh, I was so stressed out about that time!” I love doing it because I get to get back in contact with some of the moms that were Facebooking me or were on my Twitter so I’ve just brought it on to my blog. I like that community.
