Hamptons Summer

Last year, we rented a house in the Hamptons for two months with families we’d just met (Plenty called us crazy but that’s nothing new!) and, in the process, fell in love with fellow freaks like us. But, despite the amazing time, we assumed it’d be a one-summer stint. After all, since then, two families had another baby and the third is expecting. But, somehow, we made it work. And by “it”, I mean 8 adults (1 preggo!), 4 toddlers, 2 infants and 3 dogs.

We only rented for July this time because of prior commitments and, let’s face it, with double the house, we couldn’t afford a second month! This year we stayed in Southampton. It was nice to chance up our location and explore new places. But, quite honestly, we didn’t venture out all that much. We had the backyard area of our dreams (We’re New Yorkers, it doesn’t take much!) and it was so much easier (and more fun!) to stay in, swim, cook and entertain (as evidenced by our 4th, game night, mermaid sprinkle and luau). Therefore, this is less of a hot spot guide and more of a summer scrapbook, Red Fox Lane style.

Southampton’s own Tate’s cookies with Talenti gelato sandwiches were a staple this summer.

The Maidstone is a charming, quaint and quirky inn with delicious food.

One of the many perks of communal living: potty training and pops with your friends!

The newly opened Wolffer Kitchen in Sag Harbor is spot on. We had an impeccable meal.

Raspberry picking turned out to be a highlight. For a $3.95 carton, we had endless fun.

One of the best dates Zach and I have had was a little Montauk crawl. We started at Crow’s Nest for cocktails.

Headed to The Surf Lodge for live music and another drink.

Then made our way to Gurney’s for stunning views and a gorgeous sunset.

And a hammock. Doesn’t get better than that.

We ended it with a chill meal at Clam Bar.
