DIY Holiday Kids’ Table
Christmas Eve is a week from today! Did that creep up or what? I was feeling in good shape at the beginning of the month, blinked and we’re mid-month already. How did that happen? If you’re like me and feel like you’re scrambling for ideas, out of time, energy and money… Allow me to help! With a few items I already owned and a quick Target run, I was able to come up with a really easy, cute and low maintenance holiday kids table that looks much more involved than it actually is!
I picked up the adorable ornament place mats at the Bullseye Playground at Target (a.k.a. the dollar bin), had leftover letters from my last project and post and made custom place settings for the kids table in under 5 minutes and for $1.50 each! While I was at my mecca, I grabbed some polka dot treat bags (I can’t find them or the place mats online or I’d link them.) in the party section and was on my way. At home, I used old silicone molds (snowflake and tree) to make the melted crayons in. The Crayolas I, of course, snatched from my kids’ art cabinet and got to smashing- so therapeutic, especially this time of year! 😉
Normally I have Lilly help me as she loves it but for the sake of time- and my sanity- I kept it a solo project this time, which was so fun to get my kid craft on uninterrupted. Might have to try that more often!
I set the oven for 200 as directed by a quick Google search and did it for 1o mins, then 15, 20… Finally I cranked it up to 275 and did it for another 5 mins or so and we were good. So I’d say 275 for 10-15 and check. Then I popped them in the freezer for 30 mins or so. If they’re really cold, the pop out a little less easy than room temperature but there’s guaranteed to be less breakage.
I put some in the favor bags on the kids table, as seen above, and some in cellophane bags with ribbon to gift to her friends with a card that says “Have a colorful Christmas!”
As always, I line the kids table with white craft paper so they can color till they’re content.
Check out last year’s holiday kids craft table too!
